Okay, I have to be up at 5am tomorrow so that I can get to the airport and make sure I'm not late to get Lydia. But I can't sleep, 'cuz I've gotten used to going to bed at about midnight.

Anyway, I got up, went to the toilet, then bath room, and decided to check how my recent 'get fit' stint is going. Well... it's going damned good.

I weighed myself when I got back from England and I was about 81kg, and 25% body fat. When I saw that I was horrified, as 25% is supposed to be the border from 'healthy' to 'unhealthy' amount of fat. I decided to go on a diet and start getting fit in earnest. Well I just weighed myself then, 3 weeks after getting back, and I'm 76.8kg and 20.9% body fat. That means I've lost a total of 4.4kg of fat in the last 3 weeks. Now I was just talking to Sam - our household Doctor - and he thinks that's a bit much. So perhaps I should slow down a little. Either way I'm still stoked. I'm well on my way to getting fit, and Lydia is ariving tomorrow! YAY! Life is good. *nods*

Now, after sharing that with all of you I really must try to get some sleep. My alarm is set to go off in about 6 hours.

Goodnight all

Porkanomics Part 3: The trouble with... Piglets?
Part 3 of my little comic series I'm doing. I'll be sketching part 4 soon.

There are also photographs of Lydia that I think everyone should take particular notice of.
Indefinite Destination and 'Smile Girl'

I've got deviations lined up for the next... forever it seems. More will be going up tonight.

I'm also in pain. I've been doing exercise again. My body had gotten quite happy with NOT doing exercise seemingly. Stupid body.

Jan. 15th, 2007 @ 09:31 am Well, I'm back
Current Location: Melbourne, Australia
Current Mood: tired

Hello everyone. I'm back in Australia! Sorry I didn't update here more often, but I wasn't anywhere near a computer most of the time. Anyway, I have lots of photos to sort through, and I'll be posting some up here soon.

After my last post, Lydia and I went in to London to see the fireworks at the London Eye, to bring in 2007. I've got photos of that which will be uploaded soon and posted here. The crowd there was massive, and we weren’t as close to the London eye as I had hoped we would be, but the fireworks were still great. There was a moment when I looked out over the crowed, while the fireworks were going, and saw a sea of little blue LCD screens. It was actually quite pretty. The fireworks in the sky above and a mass of little blue screens below.

Lydia turned 19 while we were there. It was nice to be there with her, even though she doesn’t make a big deal out of birthdays. That day we went out to Stone Henge, and then Salsa later that night. It was a great day, although I think Lydia froze a bit while I was taking photos of the stones. I have photos of Stone Henge, and again those will be uploaded when I get some time.

We also visited Windsor castle! It was quite an epic place to see, but unfortunately half of it was closed for cleaning. We also managed to only get to half of the part that was still open as we thought we had more time that we actually did. That was a bit of a disappointment, but oh well, next time I guess.

On the second last day I was there, I celebrated my 25th birthday. That night we went into London and I had a proper English pie. It was strangely hard to find proper old English food, so finding such a place made me quite happy.

On the 12th of January, I flew back to Australia. Lydia stayed behind with her mother for a bit, then flying to Malaysia to visit some of her family there. She'll be back in Australia in early Feb. I miss her already.

I’m still kind of tired from my flight, even though I’ve been back 2 days. I’ve also got lots to do before tomorrow, so I’ll leave it at that for now.

Here I am again to bring you more updates of my time in London. I don't have much to say, it's all been quite the experience and you should all come here yourselves. there still hasn't been any snow here, which is quite funny, as there was snow when we left melbourne.

I went out to Woking two days ago, and it was a bit colder there. Actualy it wasn't, it was just windy, and that makes it feel more like Melbourne. Today I'm going around London for some propper sightseeing. Tonight I'm going into London propper to bring in the New Year. I'm well aware that you guys in Australia have allready seen it in, but I care little, as I get to celebrate it in a whole other country, so there. ;)

Oh, I have more photos of London on my photobucket. I will be sorting these out when I'm home. I also have some photos from my SLR camera, but they are trapped in the camera for the time being. I'll have more photos after my sightseeing tonight.

Anyway, Lydia is sitting here bored next to me, so I think it's time to go. Till next time folks.

Hello from London,

Yes, for those of you who didn't know I was going, I'm in England now! I have lots to tell, so bare with me.

Leaving an Australian Summer Behind
On December 25th at 9pm, Lydia and I checked in to Qantas flight QF29 from Melbourne Tullamarine airport to London Heathrow stopping in Hong Kong...
Oh my god! I never want to go on a 24 hour flight ever again! We left at 12:15 am on Tuesday the 26th of December. The first 8 hours to Hong Kong were pretty bad. I was getting quite tired after about 3 hours, but the seats didn't recline very far and my leg room was... well there wasn't any leg room. I eventualy got to sleep, but regreted it once I woke up as my neck was killing me. Later I figured out that while Lydia was awake, I could rest my head on her lap and actualy get some comfortable sleep! After that I resigned myself to staying awake and watching the inflight movies. I must say they had a decent selection, and the only part of my flight back to Australia that I'm looking forward to is that I can finish watching a documentry series I missed out on the end of. Lydia found the wonders of Ginger tablets. She said she'd eaten more on that flight than on any previous flight she'd ever been on. So that was good. I learnt about them from Mythbusters, so go Mythbusters!

Hong Kong
We landed in Hong Kong at about 6am local time, which meant everything was closed. We wondered around HK airport for about 20 minutes looking for bottles of water as we were both dehidrated. When I eventualy found some, they cost $15 each! I was outraged for the 1.4 seconds before I realised that was HKD, not AUD or USD. It actualy works out to around $2.50 a bottle.

One thing I noticed about Hong Kong was that every sign was written not only in Chinese, but in English too. The English signage at the airport was better than it is at Springvale.

Hong Kong to London: non stop!
Interestingly enough the trip to London wasn't so bad. I figured out how to sleep without dying from back pain, took off my shoes to releave the uncomfortable feeling there, and just took my mind off my tiredness by watching movie after movie. My feet swelled up from water retention, but other than that I think I fly very well.

Touchdown: Heathrow Airport
Local Time: 1:15pm Tuesday 26th of December 2006
It was nice being off the plane and being able to stretch my legs. I was shocked by the lack of security. Lydia thought she might have to declare something, so went through the "I have something to declare" line... and nobody was there... so she just came out and we walked right into London without even going through a metal detector... scary.

Anyway, Lydia's mum - June - was waiting for us at the Airport, which was lovely. She was very excited to see Lydia again. She then took us back to her place which is where I'll be staying for the 3 or so weeks I'll be here.

Everyone warned me that it was going to be cold. I knew going from the middle of an Australian Summer to an English winter was going to be a bit of a shock, but I wasn't ready for this! It's actualy perfecly pleasant! sure, it's cold, but it's not windy, and with a few layers it's very very tolerable. I've even found I'm too hot indoors because everyone insists on having the heating turned all the way up.
The trip from the airport was nice. The grass here is so green! It's almost blue in it's deep green-ness. There's also lots of nice houses here, although they're all rather tiny. I love it, it's so pretty!
I had a nice dinner at June's friend's house, which was delicious, had a budweiser then went to bed at about 7pm, 'cuz of the lack of sleep on the plane.

Good morning London
Today, I feel fantastic. I got a really good nights sleep on this ultra firm matress, and we woke up at about 5am local time. We went for a walk, and I was again surprised at how pleasant it is here even in the middle of winter. We then went out for a nice english breakfast at about 10am. Mmm. English breakfast in England, how ironic, but also delicious. I'm sitting here feeling quite smug, as everyone told me my jet lag would be horrid, but I feel great. I'm perfectly awake and alert and I haven't even been here for 24 hours yet! I must travel exceedingly well. It does help that I'm here with my Lydia though.

And now, for your viewing pleasure, some photos of Lydia and I (Mostly Lydia) in London and in transit! These are just from my happysnaps camera, as I didn't know I'd find an internet cafe, so left it at home (at home in London I mean). I'll be going out photographing with it later, and I'll post them up here when I have a collection.

And now, June is a bit sick and we have vital medicine to provide her with, so I must be off!

Bye all,
Nim

Dec. 4th, 2006 @ 10:03 am Well that was a waste of time

This weekend was going to be jam packed with me finishing stuff off. I was going to buy a Digital SLR Camera (Either a Canon EOS 400D or a Nikkon D70), get stuck into one of my two digital art peices, buy some spark plug leads and a battery for the 86, go see Mike and scrounge up a few other parts for the 86, and go for a nice long run.

You know how much of that I did? That's right, zero. I didn't do one of those things. Instead, I sat around playing Sid Myers Pirates and feeling sorry for myself. Ohwell. I now sail the Caribbean abbord the Frigate "Fair Lydia", have saved my sister and Uncle, Married some French wench and become the most notorious pirate on the seven seas!

Nov. 28th, 2006 @ 11:02 am "Unsafe is safe"
Current Mood: contemplative
I've recently been caught up in a few conversations regarding how bad speeding is, and how all speeders should die. Or at least that seems to be their opinion.

My opinion is that speeding is bad, but that almost all our speed limits are set to low, so by breaking the speed limits in Victoria, you're not actually speeding. This is based on the idea of the 85th percentile rule (PDF).

Anyway, it seems that America agrees with me, and that parts of Europe are actually taking it one step further!

Rather than just relaxing speeding laws, and setting roads to the 85th percentile rule, they're abolishing speed limits all together... along with road signs and traffic lights! The idea is that so many signs make us completely ignore the situation around us. As long as we follow the 'rules', we'll be safe (which is stupid. If it's foggy and icey, it's not even safe to do 90 in a 100 zone). This new idea being trialled in a few towns across Europe seems to be working fairly well. It gives responsibility to back to the drivers and gives them the chance to be courteous again. The only rules are "Yield to the right" and "Get in someone's way and you'll be towed."

Link to the full article.

It'll be interesting to see how that goes.

In other news, Lydia is still away. 19 days untill she returns. :D
I do, however, have a lot to do before she gets back: I've got the next two installments of Porkanomics to do. I've gotta buy AE86 parts so Lydia and I can start putting it together when she gets back. I also have two other art peices I wanna finish off and lots of running to do.

But for now, I'm at work so should probably do some of that. Cyas!

Lydia is away. I wish she wasn't. It sucks having a girlfriend who goes away for extended periods without you being able to contact them. Blah. I hope I don't go to insane before she gets back (and subsequently leaves again, but that's another story).

To keep myself busy, you might have noticed I've been doing some comics. Part of this comic doing requires me to do the horridly difficult and not at all funny task of reading through other comics to see how they do stuff.

Okay, so it's actualy great. Some online comics are so funny it makes me pee my pants. I strongly advise you to visit Least I Could Do.

Here, for your entertainment, are some panels from it...

I'm going to go distract myself from my lack of Lydia. Cyaz.
